What is Liminal Troy?
Liminal Troy is a collaborative network of independent death doulas which I founded in January 2026, serving Troy, Albany, and the surrounding Capital Region of New York. We exist to make death-care support more visible and accessible in our local community.
What We Offer
A central place to find death doulas serving the Capital Region, a referral pathway for individuals, families, and community members seeking support, a shared commitment to ethical, presence-based, non-medical care. Each doula within Liminal Troy practices independently and brings their own experience, approach, and offerings.
How Referrals Work
You submit a request for support through our Facebook page Liminal Troy or through Dr Agapi's website (dragapi.com). Your request is shared with a small number of doulas whose availability, location, and scope align with your needs. You contact the doula(s) directly to explore fit, availability, and next steps. You choose who you would like to work with. Liminal Troy does not assign doulas or manage care. The relationship exists directly between you and the doula you choose.
About Our Doulas
Members of Liminal Troy are independent death doulas offering non-medical, non-clinical support around death, dying, and loss. Support may include: presence and companionship at the bedside, emotional and practical guidance, advance care planning education, vigil and end-of-life support, family and caregiver support. Specific services, fees, and scope are determined by each individual doula.
What Liminal Troy Is Not
Liminal Troy is not: A medical or hospice service, a healthcare provider, a funeral home, an employer, agency, or group practice. We do not replace licensed medical, legal, or mental health professionals.
Important Note:
Liminal Troy is a collaborative network of independent practitioners serving the Capital Region of NY. Members are not employees, partners, or agents of Liminal Troy, and the collaborative does not supervise or manage the care provided by individual doulas.
An Invitation to Death Doulas in the Capital Region
Liminal Troy is a collaborative network of independent death doulas serving Troy, Albany, and the surrounding Capital Region. It was created in response to a growing need in our community for visible, ethical, non-medical death-care support—and for connection among those doing this work. This is not an agency, employer, or group practice. Each doula remains fully independent. Liminal Troy exists as a shared umbrella so people in our region know where to turn.
What Participation Looks Like
Being publicly listed as part of a Capital Region–based collaborative Optional referrals based on availability, location, and scope Participation in peer support offerings as desired
What This Is Not
No employment relationship, no shared income or referral fees, no required hours or case minimums , no supervision or performance evaluation.
Why This Exists
Many people in our region are seeking death-care support and don’t know where to find it. Liminal Troy exists to reduce isolation for families and for doulas, and to foster collaboration rather than competition. If this resonates, send us a message; we’d love to connect and explore alignment.
