Declaration of Ethical Accountability:
DrAgapi.com exists to support individuals, families, and communities as they navigate health, illness, dying, grief, and questions of meaning. All work offered under the umbrella of Dr. Agapi Ermides, D.O. is guided by integrity, presence, and respect, whether medical, educational, contemplative, or supportive in nature.
1. Respect for Human Dignity All individuals are approached as inherently worthy, autonomous, and deserving of respect, regardless of health status, belief system, identity, or stage of life. Every interaction is grounded in consent, attentiveness, and recognition of each person’s lived experience.
2. Scope, Clarity, and Transparency The nature and scope of any service offered through DrAgapi.com are communicated clearly and honestly. Medical services, when provided, are practiced within appropriate licensure, training, and professional ethical standards. Non-medical offerings, including death doula work, Reiki, contemplative guidance, and educational experiences, are provided as supportive, non-clinical practices and are not represented as medical treatment, psychotherapy, or diagnostic care. Questions are welcomed, and informed participation is encouraged at all times.
3. Autonomy and Informed Choice Each person retains full authority over their own body, care, beliefs, and decisions. Participation in any offering is voluntary, consent is ongoing, and it may be withdrawn at any time. No individual is pressured, coerced, or directed toward a particular choice, belief, or outcome.
4. Non-Harm and Ethical Care This work is guided by a commitment to minimize harm and to act with humility and accountability. Services are offered within the limits of training and competence, with appropriate consultation or referral when needs exceed scope. Care is taken to remain attentive to power dynamics, particularly in situations involving vulnerability, illness, grief, or the end of life.
5. Presence Over Authority The work prioritizes listening, accompaniment, and respectful witnessing rather than hierarchy or control. No single framework for healing, meaning, or death is imposed. Diverse cultural, spiritual, philosophical, and personal perspectives are honored, and individuals are supported in discovering their own sources of meaning.
6. Integrity Across Roles When holding multiple roles, including physician, educator, death doula, Reiki practitioner, or guide, clear boundaries are maintained. Distinctions between medical and non-medical roles are named when relevant, and care is taken to avoid conflicts of interest or dual relationships that could compromise trust or ethical clarity.
7. Confidentiality and Privacy Confidentiality and privacy are respected in all settings, within the limits appropriate to the role being provided. Personal stories, experiences, and identifying details are not shared without explicit permission. Educational or reflective content is handled with care and anonymized when drawn from lived experience.
8. Cultural Humility and Ongoing Learning This work is approached with humility and a commitment to ongoing reflection and learning. Attention is given to the ways culture, history, trauma, and systemic inequities shape experience. Feedback is welcomed, and responsibility is taken when harm occurs, with an emphasis on accountability and repair.
9. No Guarantees or False Promises No guarantees are made regarding outcomes, healing, emotional states, or spiritual experiences. These processes are deeply personal and cannot be assured. The role of this work is to support and accompany, not to cure, fix, or rescue.
10. Evolution and Accountability This Code of Ethics reflects the current values guiding DrAgapi.com and may evolve as the work continues to grow. Accountability is held to professional ethical standards where applicable, to the trust of those served, and to an ongoing practice of reflection and integrity.
